Tom shot this rag at last light on the last day of his hunt. He had quite a hunt as his guide had kept him in the Elk for all 5 days. Several opportunities should have been, some the Elk were just plain lucky and Tom did miss one very nice bull.
This bull ran off into the timber after it was shot and when the guide went to tracking it, they heard it get up and run. In the dark, it doesn’t make sense to chase them unless you are sure they are hit hard. This one wasn’t.
It was decided to leave it till the next morning. |

By the next morning, a bear had found him and made a mess. Tom got some horns, some good muzzle hunting experience and some meat.
He will be back. Calling Elk is just too exciting. |
