Thursday of the 2nd rifle season, Stacy
had lots of elk to look at first thing in the
morning. It was a long shot and he hit it low.
The bullet hitting right behind the sterum
cut about a 7 inch gash that caught the gut..
It was spraying some blood and rumen
contents. Somehow in the confusion of
many tracks leading away we lost him.
He had cut off and disappeared.
His wound wasn’t immediately fatal.
Mark shot another nice 6x6 as the herd
went past him on their way out..
We found this bull a ridge to the east 3 days
later, thanks to the Ravens.
Stacy got his trophy, but the meat
wasn’t any good.
